Cortland Area Boys and Girls will Play First-Ever Season of Crown City Little League Baseball (CCLL) Next Spring

Photo Cortland area boys and girls will play the first ever season of Crown City Little League Baseball (CCLL) next spring. A CCLL Board of Directors was recently elected to develop and plan the new league.

Crown City Little League officers are Nathan Forehand, President; Jason Prentice, Vice President; Maria Adsit, Treasurer/Secretary, John Tobin, Player Agent and Michael Tubbs, Safety Officer. Also elected to serve on the Board of Directors are John McNerney; Andy Jewett; Tom Pasquarello, and Abe Johnson.

"I am excited about helping bring Little League Baseball to Cortland, giving kids a chance to play in a great sport with International ties" said Board president Nate Forehand.

The board is now looking for people interested in serving on various committees to assist with the new league's planning and formation, according to Forehand.

Organizational areas needing volunteers and assistance include fundraising, concessions and sponsorship; player, coaching and umpire development; and web development and promotion. Forehand said anyone interested in volunteering may send a message of interest to crowncitylittleleague@yahoo.com.

"This isn't only about Little League Baseball" added Maria Adsit "by working together to make this successful; we will be fostering strong community involvement and long-lasting partnerships. Our goal is to make Crown City Little League fun for kids and something that they, their parents and the community will be proud to be a part of. We need a lot of help to make that happen," Adsit said.

Information about player registration, coaching and volunteers needed to assist with league activities will become available early next year.

CCLL will play at the new Starr Road Park in Cortlandville, which has two regulation Little League fields and also hopes to complete the fields for use at the former Armory location on Wheeler Avenue in the City of Cortland. Children ages 6 to12 are eligible to play. Homer Little League has played since 1997.
Little League Baseball was founded in 1939 has become the world's largest organized youth sports program. Little League has nearly 200,000 teams, in all 50 U.S. states and more than 80 countries. The goals of Little League are to give kids a game that provides the fundamental principles of sportsmanship, fair play and teamwork that help build good citizens.
