Photo Dear Cortland Baseball Families,

It is time for us to think about looking ahead to our 2008 baseball season. Even though our baseball season ended a few months ago, there has been a dedicated group of people meeting to organize an exciting new program for next year. It is our hope to be an official Little League baseball program in time for opening day 2008, and this will bring with it new opportunities for our players and families. This NEW format for 2008 will replace our existing Cortland Youth Baseball Program. The City Youth Bureau will continue to be involved and assist with the program, however, this new program will be calling upon YOU to help support your child's baseball experience with a more comprehensive hands-on approach. Volunteerism opportunities will be increasing, this in turn, will help foster a strong sense of community support and successful program ownership. Cortland's Youth Baseball Program can be even better than ever - WITH YOUR HELP!

One thing we need to do is hold our first Annual Meeting. This year's Annual Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 25 at 7:00pm, Cortland H.S. LGI room. During this meeting we will entertain discussion from those in attendance and address any issues or concerns that may have arisen during the past season. If you have anything you'd like to share publicly (positive or negative) this open forum will be your opportunity to do so.

One business item that will be taken care of at this meeting is voting on who will serve the Crown City Little League families in the form of Board representation. Anyone who is a paid member of Crown City Little League Baseball, Inc. has voting privileges for Board member selection. If you are interested in becoming a voting member of the Crown City Little League, please send your $5.00 membership dues to:

Crown City Little League
c/o Maria Adsit
182 Elm Street
Cortland, NY 13045-2322

To be considered eligible to vote for the 2007-08 Board of Directors, your membership dues must be postmarked by October 19, 2007. Along with your dues, please also return the enclosed questionnaire and let us know if you would be interested in serving as a Board member. Even if you would rather not serve at this time, your eligibility to vote is a very important factor. The Board of Directors is the governing body for YOUR CHILD's baseball programming opportunities in Cortland County.

If you are interested in learning more about Little League Baseball, and what opportunities it can offer to our players, families, and our community, I encourage you to visit their website at: or you can also visit our Eastern Region site at

We encourage you to consider membership at this time, and if you choose not to become a member, we still invite you to attend the Annual Meeting and contribute any input you have to share. Regardless of any decisions you make about becoming a member or a director, we ask that you please return the enclosed questionnaire at your earliest convenience. Thank you!
