On March 24th & 25th, 2007, the Cortland community will play host to competitors and spectators during the 3rd Annual Cortland Shootout.
Teams will take the court at Cortland High School, the County Office Building Gym, Homer High School and Homer Junior High beginning at 8:00am on Saturday, March 24th. Girls and Boys is age divisions from 11 years and up will play to be named champion of their respective division.
Additional details on specific teams that will attend as well as the game schedules will be posted on the CRSC website as we approach tournament weekend. There is a fee to enter the competition and teams must be registered with AAU. There is also a small fee for admission.

"The Mystic Marlins from the Bahamas is expected back for their third year at the Shootout" indicated Tournament Director, Rich Hill from Central Western AAU.
A pre-tournament information session on what it takes to qualify and compete in the NCAA is also being planned by the Cortland Regional Sports Council. "Last year we had Rick Pound come in and speak to the Mystic Marlins to give a better sense of what was required to compete in the United States, at the college level." said Machell Phelps, CRSC Executive Director. "We had such as positive reaction to that session that we are trying to find a way to make it available to all age appropriate teams that will be here for the tournament."
GAME RULES:
* Each team must supply their own score keeper
* 5 minute warm up time providing
* 16 minute halves - stop time
* 5 minute half time
* 3 time outs per game
* Players are disqualified on their 6th foul
* Bonus 1 + 1 on the 10th foul. NO double bonus.
* Last minute of game both teams are automatically in the bonus.
* Grace period is 5 minutes after warm up, after that game is considered a forfeit.
* Second half clock runs if lead is 20 points or more.
* First overtime is 2 minutes, second overtime is 1 minute. Third overtime is Sudden Death.
* One (1) additional time out per overtime.
* Foul Shots
- 1st space left open
- 3 defenders from defensive team. 2 from offensive team
- All rebounders can go on foul shooters release
* There will be a 10 second call in backcourt because of no shot clock.
* No 5 second call in front court except when ball is held.
