Photo Thousands of Central New York boys and girls lacrosse players will compete at SUNY Cortland on Saturday, June 18, 2005 in the Brine Upstate Lacrosse League's (B.U.L.L.) Shane Lynch Memorial Opening Weekend.

The annual event, named in honor of the late LeMoyne College head men's lacrosse coach, officially starts the 2005 B.U.L.L. season which continues until July 28, 2005

More than 140 teams are slated for the opening weekend. They will compete on the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex's two Sprinturf© fields, as well as on seven adjacent natural grass fields. Competition is divided into three age-group conferences - fourth grade, fifth and sixth grades, and seventh and eight grades.

B.U.L.L. teams represent squads from Onondaga, Cortland and Oswego Counties. Started in 1992, the summer league's alumni include some of the nation's finest collegiate and professional lacrosse players.
Hom-Cort Lacrosse Club, in conjunction with SUNY Cortland and the Cortland Regional Sports Council (CRSC), is hosting this year's Shane Lynch Memorial Opening Weekend.

"This marks the first time that the event is being held in Cortland and the local organizing committees have worked hard to make this a successful and fun experience for everyone involved," said Joe Reagan, the CRSC chair.

A new feature will be the Powell Hour - a demonstration by the talented brother trio of Mike, Casey and Ryan Powell, all former Syracuse University All-Americans who went on to play professional lacrosse. The demonstration begins at 1 p.m. in the Stadium Complex and will be followed by an autograph session. Both are open to the public.
